The place at 36373 State Highway 44 is particularly suited for the Mt. Lassen Art Center because of the nature of the environment. It also serves as the residence of an accomplished artist and certificated educator who will be its director. The grounds feature lovely mature gardens set in a stunning meadow environment nestled beneath Mt. Lassen and near by peaks. It is situated at a gateway to the National Volcanic Scenic Byways and the Intermountain Area, seven miles west of the North Entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The art center and its surroundings provide an exquisite environment for artists and the general public.

The site provides easy and safe access to and from State Route 44. Off road parking is provided with twenty on site parking places and ample over flow parking areas on the premises (see site plan and traffic study attachments.) The greater part of traffic at the site is seasonal, at a time when road conditions are optimal. Access from State Highway 44 is direct across a paved 80' wide apron on a straight section of Highway 44 in a fifty-five mile per hour speed limit zone with good visibility in either direction. TheMount Lassen Art Center is in an area frequented by artists. It includes the home of an active artist and educator with a history of serving the local community (reference: Marge at the Shingletown Activity Council 474-4220.) Local, regional and international artists are familiar with and visit the Mt. Lassen Art Center property and go on painting nearby painting excursions (artists references: Paul Dinwiddie 474-1284, Marti Weidert 474-4300, Sharon McKelvie 365-6442 and Emanuel Skarlatos 968-5420.) The owner of the art center serves on the Board of Directors of the North Valley Art League and is a member of the Society of Western Artists, The Shasta County Arts Council and the Los Gatos Art Association and is in the Silicon Valley Art Council Artist Referral: Mural Stories. The nearby Pottery Dome, featuring artistic ceramics made and sold on the premises by Elaine Borda and Ann Hunt, is within close proximity. The resident artist has a permit from the National Park Service that allows guided painting excursions into Lassen National Volcanic Park and for lessons at other park locations including campgrounds.

Art is displayed inside the studio and in parts the residence, but primarly during the tourist season on the outside of the building structures around the walkways and patios and in temporary canopies situated around the property. A future larger studio/gallery may be built sometime in the future.
